Phnom Penh, 21 September 2021 (TDI): The 24th Directors-General of Immigration and Consular Matters (DGICM) proceeded with its meeting on 26 August 2021, which was held online. This meeting was delayed in 2020 because of Covid- 19 pandemic situation. It was conducted by  Jaime H. Morente, Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration, the Philippines, and attended by all ASEAN member states and ASEAN Secretariat.

In this meeting, they discussed coordinating regional cooperation on immigration and officials to attain the ASEAN community-building goals.

The meeting was led up to the 4th ASEAN Heads of Major Immigration Checkpoints Forum (AMICF) and the 16th ASEAN Immigration Intelligence Forum (AIIF) on 25 August 2021.

The 4th AMICF discussed the system to the progress of Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTFs) Movement Database among the ASEAN Member States, implementation of AMICF communication channel, famous the activities, programs beneath the ASEAN  Comprehensive Recovery Framework (ACRF) and its execution arranged to be co-lead by the DGICM. Whereas the 16th AIIF concurred with the Plan of Action (PoA) to execute the Intelligence Data Sharing Protocol (IDSP) and examined the way onward for the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the ASEAN Immigration Intelligence Meeting (AIIM).

The meeting took note of the recent development in ASEAN and upgraded on visa exemption course of action on ASEAN and non-ASEAN nations and trade their views on national, territorial, and universal endeavors on immigration, consular and border administrations matter across in covid 19.

They have productive dialogues on the advancement of DGICM activities especially the execution of the guideline on consular help by ASEAN member state Missions in Third Countries to Nationals of Other ASEAN Member States. The way forward is the ASEAN business travel card, visa entry, and the implement the ASEAN path at major universal Air terminals.

In the meeting, they moreover examine the follow up the development of the new ASEAN plan of action about cooperation on migration matters. They also assemble the session with the chairman of the ASEAN Head of Specialist Anti-Trafficking unit (HSU) under the Senior Authorised meeting on transnational crime (SOMTC). They welcome Singapore to host the 25th DGICM and its related meetings.
