Mogadishu, 31 October 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Somalia, Hassan bin Hamza Hashim met on Sunday with the President of the sisterly Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The meeting took place at the end of his tenure. During the meeting, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud thanked the Ambassador for the efforts in strengthening the fraternal relations between both countries.
He further acknowledged the constructive role played by Qatar’s Ambassador, wishing the former Ambassador good luck as well as success in his future duties.
At the same time, the Somalian President expressed his gratitude to the State of Qatar for the implementation of humanitarian and development projects in Somalia.
Moreover, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, while appreciating the efforts of the Qatar government, stated that the gains made from these development projects have impacted the Somalian economy positively, especially the road projects.

For his part, Ambassador Hassan bin Hamza Hashim thanked the Somali President for the distinguished cooperation that has contributed to strengthening the relationship between both countries.
Moving forward, the Ambassador also emphasized strong bilateral relations in the future. At the end of the meeting, the Somalian President awarded an Order of Merit to the Qatari Envoy for his endeavors in fulfilling his duties supremely.
He also awarded him with a certificate in appreciation of his diplomatic efforts in enhancing the relationship between the two partner countries.
The former Ambassador was also hosted by the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, and other high officials in Somalia during this past month.
Earlier this week, Mogadishu University, a private university in Somalia, also awarded Qatar’s Ambassador with an honorary doctorate as an embodiment of his excellent services in strengthening the bilateral relations between Somalia and Qatar.
