Cairo, 14 February 2023 (TDI): Qatar participated in a high-level conference in support of Palestine. Qatar’s Foreign Minister, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi attended the summit.
The conference was held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States’ General Secretariat in Cairo.
Foreign Minister said the meeting is an integral aspect of official Arab efforts to find a comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue.
This symposium confronts the sad reality of Al Quds Al Sharif. Jerusalemites are suffering under discriminatory policies and heinous atrocities.
The Arab nation must accept responsibility for political and legal rights violations, the misuse of economic and development resources for the Zionist cause, and the Palestinian people’s right to shelter education and health.
He hoped the conference would discover political, economic, developmental, and legal ways to defend Jerusalem and its people’s steadfastness against Israeli injustices.
It will also find insightful political visions, financial and development plans, and effective legal frameworks to handle major transgressions and flagrant attacks on Jerusalem.
Al Muraikhi stated that Arab leaders would make effective decisions, close directions, and successful strategies after this summit.
He reiterated Qatar’s firm position on the Palestinian issue, ending the Israeli occupation and establishing the State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital within the framework of international legitimacy and relevant Security Council resolutions.
He also stressed that Qatar rejects any measures that impose an illegal reality on the ground in Jerusalem as they undermine international efforts to implement the two-state solution.
In addition, he went on to say that Qatar has consistently opposed Judaizing Jerusalem, moving an embassy there, and Israeli settlements in all their forms.
Sultan lauded the residents of Jerusalem for their steadfastness in preserving the city’s identity, as well as Islamic and Christian landmarks and sanctuaries.

He emphasized the need for significant investments from the Palestinian, Arab, Islamic, and worldwide business sectors to generate jobs and strengthen the local economy, particularly in housing, tourism, education, and healthcare.
Al Muraikhi noted that Jerusalemites face many racist laws and measures from the occupation government, which seeks to force them to leave the city to empty it of its Palestinian component.
The Foreign Minister highlighted that immediate Arab action requires all governmental & popular levels to support the Jerusalemites’ legal, political, & economic fortitude in the face of displacement, expulsion, settlement, land seizure, home demolition, & other initiatives.
He characterized Israel’s detainee violations, home arrests, especially of children, and deportation from Al Aqsa Mosque and the Old City as illegal and inflammatory.
Sultan praised the Palestinian people across occupied Palestine, and the people of Jerusalem in particular, for standing up to the Israeli occupation forces in defense of their just cause and their right to establish an independent state on June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Foreign Minister declared Qatar would defend the Palestinian brothers until they regain their natural and fundamental rights. He hoped this conference’s outcomes would reflect the Palestinian people’s sacrifices and struggles.
