Tashkent, 8 May 2023 (TDI): The State of Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, led the opening ceremony of the Embassy of Qatar in Uzbekistan on Sunday.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, and the Advisor to the Uzbek President on Foreign Policy, Abdulaziz Komilov.
In his speech, the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs highlighted that the opening of the Embassy in Uzbekistan is in line with the two countries’ leaders’ aspirations to strengthen bilateral relations and bring the two peoples closer together.
He further emphasized that the relationship between the two countries was established in 1997.
Since then, the two states’ governments have worked together to build common principles and foundations for their relationship based on international law, human rights, and the United Nations Charter.
He added that the State of Qatar is keen to build bridges of cooperation and fraternity with Uzbekistan to strengthen joint work in the bilateral and multilateral framework.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, also spoke at the ceremony, saying that the opening of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Tashkent marks a historic event that begins a new chapter in the friendly relations between the two countries.
He expressed his confidence in continuing to develop long-term partnership relations between the two friendly peoples in all priority areas.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the State of Qatar is an important, close, and promising partner for Uzbekistan in the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf. The historical and civilizational ties that bind the two peoples serve as a strong foundation for mutual relations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan praised the rapid development of relations between the two countries in recent years.
He also welcomed the entry and expansion of Qatari investments, companies, and institutions in the Uzbek market.
He affirmed the country’s readiness to provide opportunities and capabilities and take appropriate measures in this field.
The opening of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Uzbekistan represents an important step towards strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and promoting cooperation and fraternity between their peoples.
