Doha, 6 December 2022 (TDI): Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi met Jose Ramon, the head of the Qatar-EU Friendship Group in the European Parliament to discuss bilateral relations.

Jose Ramon, President of the Qatari-EU Friendship Group is now in qatar to take part in some of the events around the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The discussion covered a wide range of topics of interest, including a review of the bilateral cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the European Union.

A venue for extensive interaction between members of the European Parliament and the State of Qatar is what the Qatar-EU Parliamentary Friendship Group hopes to provide.

Their initiatives aim to advance and solidify the bonds between Qatari and European Parliament (MEP) Representatives.

Activities of the Qatar-EU Parliamentary Friendship Group include organizing seminars, hearings, and other gatherings on topics of interest to both Qatar and the EU.

Foreign and security policy, human rights, education and training, environmental sustainability, intercultural communication, commercial and trade relations, transport policy, investment relations, and many other topics are covered during their meetings.

The Parliamentary Friendship Group actively participates in helping Qatar explain and advance its political aims and positions inside the European Parliament and other European Institutions, particularly the European Commission and the Council.

By acting as a support structure for informal dialogue and contact between business people, government and EU officials, financial experts, and investors.

Such as, through business conferences and sector-specific seminars, the Parliamentary Friendship Group promotes stronger economic, social, and cultural relations between the EU and Qatar.

They arrange frequent member exchange visits between the two parliaments in an effort to strengthen their working relationships.

They also include the potential for parliamentary officials to exchange visits to discuss matters pertaining to the partner state.

In addition to the bilateral ties with Qatar, the Qatar-EU Parliamentary Friendship Group serves as a platform for EU Member States through its individual members.
