In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar condemned and denounced the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, stating it was a violation of International Law.
In addition to that, the statement said the storming of the Holy Mosque ought to hurt the sentiments of millions of Muslims across the globe.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the state of Qatar warned that the attempts made by the Israeli authorities to change the historical and legal status quo of the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque will lead to a destructive escalation of war and violence.
Furthermore, it urged the international community to help stop Israel from its continuous attacks against “the brotherly Palestinian people.”
Moreover, the statement concluded, “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the firm position of the state of Qatar on the justice of Palestinian cause, the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and the establishment of their Independent Palestine on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
Attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque
Hundreds of Ultranationalist Jews have entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem for the second day in a row, under the protection of Israeli authorities.
Al-Aqsa Mosque is one of the holiest sites in Islam and a Palestinian national symbol in Jerusalem’s Old City which Israel occupied and illegally annexed in 1967. On Sunday, more than 400 had entered.
The settlers entered the Mosque in light of Rosh Hashanah, or the Jewish New Year, which is from September 25 to 27 this year. The incident took place amid calls by Israeli settler organizations to hold mass break-ins into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound ahead of the Jewish holidays.
The mosque is known to Jews as the “Tomb of the Patriarchs”. The settlers performed Talmudic prayers in the Mosque’s Eastern part, which was resisted by the Palestinian people.
Last year, tensions escalated following the expulsion of Palestinian Families from their homes in Jerusalem.
