Doha, 10 October 2022 (TDI): The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, on Sunday met the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyz Republic, Zheenbek Kulubaev.

In the meeting, the officials from both countries exchanged thoughts on the bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Qatar.

Moreover, they also discussed ways through which the relations between the countries could be further supported and developed.

In addition to that, they also exchanged thoughts on cooperation in various fields like investments, development, and humanitarian projects in Kyrgyzstan. Moreover, during the session, the two sides reviewed aspects of cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest for both countries.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan praised Qatar’s efforts for the FIFA World Cup 2022 preparations in Qatar.

Qatar-Kyrgyzstan Relations

The diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic were established in March 1998 by signing the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the State of Qatar in Moscow, on March 3, 1998.

Ever since that, both countries have signed as many as 20 agreements, memorandums, and protocols, including the Agreement on Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation.

In addition to that, the Agreement on Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investments, and the Memorandum on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism have also been ratified by the countries.

Qatar’s market provides good opportunities for Kyrgyzstan. It is a catalyst for new digital companies, including Kyrgyz firms, to set up their businesses and expand in the region.

The Agreement on Economic, Commercial, and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the State of Qatar was also signed on 3 June 2014 to enhance mutual cooperation.

Both countries exchange high-level visits to each other. Currently, about 500 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic work in various companies in Qatar.
