New York, 23 September 2021(TDI): Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain, is in New York for the United Nations General Assembly. He began the day with a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. PM Sánchez and Secretary-General Stoltenberg shared ideas and discussed the organization’s future as well as opportunities for the next NATO Summit, which will be hosted in Madrid in 2022.
PM Sánchez addressed the media at the residence of Spain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. He stated that Spain will give 30 million euros to the adaptation fund for the climate emergency in 2022 and that he will strive to ensure the success of COP26. According to him, we must prioritize people in our decisions, which is why we fight for a just ecological transformation.
Spain has demonstrated its solidarity by giving vaccinations to third-world countries in order to battle COVID- 19. PM Sánchez announces further pledges to Latin America, the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the EU’s southern neighbors, increasing the total number of donated doses to 30 million.
