Prime Minister of Pakistan congratulates Xi Jinping

Beijing, 24 October 2022 (TDI): The President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, was elected as the General-Secretary of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the committee’s first plenary session held in Beijing on Sunday.

Xi Jinping presided over the committee’s first plenary session. The session was attended by 203 members of the 20th CPC Central Committee and 168 alternate members.

Xi Jinping, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, and Li Xi were elected as members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee at the session.

The session also named the members of the Central Military Commission. Moreover, the session approved the secretary, deputy secretaries, and members of the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

Xi said that the Communist Party of China (CPC) was fully confident in creating new and even greater miracles.

Moreover, he said that the CPC congress had realized its goals of unifying thinking, fortifying confidence, and boosting morale.

Xi said, “This has been a congress of holding our banner high, pooling our strength, and promoting solidarity and dedication.”

He said, “The presidium of the congress wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to each and every one of them.”

Prime Minister’s remarks

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, congratulated Xi Jinping on his election as the general secretary of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

China-Pakistan bilateral relations

China and Pakistan established diplomatic relations on May 12, 1951. Pakistan was among the first countries to recognize China. Both countries consider each other as close friends and “Iron Brothers”.

China is also Pakistan’s major trading partner and investor in South Asia. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is one of the mega projects improving infrastructure between Pakistan and China.
