Prime Minister of Estonia reaffirms support for EU enlargement

-

Brdo, 8 October 2021 (TDI): Kaja Kallas, the Estonian Prime Minister on the sidelines of the EU-Western Balkans summit emphasized the EU enlargement.

The debate on EU enlargement has been in the headlines for some time now. Some countries support EU enlargement because for them greater EU will lead to greater cooperation. But some countries fear EU enlargement due to lack of reforms in those applicant countries such as in the case of Serbia.
The Estonian Prime Minister expressed its support for the EU enlargement. She wants the negotiations between European Union and Western Balkans to be successful as early as possible.
She further stated that the EU enlargement will ensure the stability and security of the European Community. The stability of the Western Balkans is in the interest of the European Union and that is why the EU needs to support the reforms in Western Balkans.
The six Western Balkans states i.e. Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and North Macedonia are trying to get membership of the European Union. But their membership depends on the reforms and negotiations with the EU.
