Mexico City, 1 October 2021 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Belize; Juan Antonio Briceño, participated in the commemoration of the 256th anniversary of the birth of Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon; today.
The Mexican President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador chaired the event, as mentioned by the Foreign Affairs Office; among the Mexican authorities present was the Chancellor, Marcelo Ebrard. Briceño arrived in Mexico in the company of the Foreign Affairs Minister, Exterior Commerce, and Migration; Eamon Courtney, the Minister of Agriculture, Food safety, and companies; Jose Abelardo Mai.
According to the Media note; the Minister of Finances, Economic Development and Investments of the Office of the Prime Minister, Cristopher Coye; and the First Lady, Rossana Briceño as the envoy of Family Development. The representatives of Belize met with their counterparts.
Both mandataries met to discuss the state of the relations, border conflicts, commerce, investment, cooperation and the donation of covid vaccines fro Mexico. It is the second time that Briceño visits Mexico; during September, Briceño visited earlier to attend the Summit of Chiefs of State and the Government of the Latin American and Caribbean States Community, CELAC, on 18 September; then Briceño attended the Bicentenary of Independence, on 27 September.
Finally; according to the Media note; Mexico and Belize have maintained bilateral relations for 40 years, hence why the good state in the relations. Finally, it is mentioned that Mexico was the first one to establish diplomatic relations with Belize; when Belize declared its Independence from the UK in 1981.
