Beijing, 19 October 2023 (TDI): In a significant diplomatic meeting held in Beijing, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar met Li Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Secretary of CPC’s Central Commission of Discipline Inspection.
Prime Minister Kakar extended his warm congratulations to Li Xi on the resounding success of China’s 3rd Belt and Road Forum, while also felicitating him on his election as a member of the Politburo Standing Committee.
The two leaders reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan and China to strengthen bilateral political and economic ties and their unwavering support to each other on core issues.
They also expressed the collective resolve to enhance economic cooperation, with a renewed focus on the centrality of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its high-quality development.
Furthermore, they delved into strategies for increasing Chinese investments in Pakistan, with particular emphasis on sectors such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), mining, infrastructure, and agriculture.
They also highlighted the importance of expanding industrial cooperation and the establishment of Special Economic Zones in Pakistan, which will undoubtedly boost economic growth and development in the region.

In the realm of governance, Prime Minister Kakar and Li discussed anti-corruption measures and financial discipline. Prime Minister Kakar provided insights into Pakistan’s efforts to ensure transparent and inclusive governance, expressing a keen interest in learning from China’s rich experience in this area.
