Kuala Lumpur, 7 June 2024 (TDI): As the two nations commemorate 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated on Thursday that relations are still robust between Malaysia-China Friendship.

Anwar emphasized that China is the nation of Southeast Asia’s largest trading partner, a significant investor, and a close bilateral and multilateral partner in his keynote speech at the 37th Asia-Pacific Roundtable (APR). He also noted the success China has had, particularly in eradicating poverty.

Moreover, the historical achievements of China were described by him as being extremely exceptional and astounding. He notably emphasized the significant improvement in the quality of life for hundreds of millions of the country’s population.

Additionally, Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s dedication to its long-standing non-aligned policy, which places a higher value on collaboration and mutual benefits than it does on conflict and geopolitical involvements.

“By adhering to the principle of non-alignment, we have demonstrated that the pursuit of dynamic neutrality is not only possible but also extremely desirable,” he stated in his statement.

The APR, which is held by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) and is considered to be the most important international conference in Malaysia, is planned to take place from Tuesday to Thursday respectively.

Moreover, the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Ouyang Yujing, declared on Wednesday that China is enthusiastic about forging a close partnership with its ASEAN partners to fortify the connection between individuals.

In addition, as part of the “China-ASEAN Year of People-to-people Exchanges,” this will be accomplished by fostering more extensive exchanges in a variety of sectors, including education, tourism, culture, media, youth, and think tanks.
