Islamabad, 29 August 2024 (TDI): President Asif Ali Zardari has conferred Hilal-e-Imtiaz, one of the most prestigious civil awards, on Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem.
The award was conferred at a special investiture ceremony in Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday.
Arshad Nadeem thanked the president for the conferment of the award and vowed to continue serving the country in the field of athletics.
Arshad created history with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 metres, beating his Indian counterpart and defending champion Neeraj Chopra.

The star athlete landed two 90-meter-plus throws in his six attempts, shattering his personal-best record of 90.18m, and leaving behind defending champion India’s Neeraj Chopra who won the silver with an 89-metre throw. Grenada’s Anderson Peters received a bronze for his third podium finish.
With his thrilling performance, Nadeem secured the first-ever individual gold medal for Pakistan.
