President Xi visits Changsha, Hunan province


Changsha, 19 March 2024 (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping, also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made a significant visit to Changsha, the capital city of central China’s Hunan Province, on Monday and Tuesday.

Highlights of China’s Changsha visit

During his inspection, President Xi visited a battery materials joint venture. He gained insights into local efforts aimed at accelerating the development of new, productive forces.

In addition to this, a high-standard opening was also promoted. According to Xi, the visit served as China’s allegiance to advancing technological innovation. Additionally, he said it was an attempt to foster a conducive economic growth environment.

Moreover, President Xi engaged in the battery materials joint venture. He appreciated China’s strategic focus on developing key industries and enhancing international competitiveness.

He interacted with local stakeholders, praising the government’s dedication to supporting initiatives that drive economic progress and innovation.

President Xi emphasized the importance of high standards in economic development and international cooperation. By promoting high-standard opening up, China aims to strengthen its global partnerships and contribute to a more interconnected and prosperous world.

During the inspection, Xi visited a cultural street and a village. He learned about the restoration and utilization of historical and cultural blocks, the comprehensive management of the urban water environment, preparation work for spring farming, and the improvement of grassroots governance efficiency.

Xi’s Hunan Farm Tour

As part of his Tuesday tour of Changde, in the Hunan Province of central China, Xi Jinping also entered a field to see spring farming and the effort that goes into it.

To guarantee grain harvests and food security, Xi stated that good spring farming and its preparatory work are essential.

According to Xi, each region and department should establish clear guidelines for their roles, provide a suitable space for spring sowing, improve spring field management, guarantee an adequate supply of agricultural products, and fortify socialist agricultural services.

He demanded more efforts to integrate premium seeds, farming practices, equipment, and land more deeply.

To guarantee grain farmers’ income and encourage them to cultivate grain, supportive policies for agriculture and farmers should be carefully put into place.
