Beijing, 24 March 2024 (TDI): President Xi Jinping, in his capacity as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, recently conducted a four-day inspection tour of central China’s Hunan Province.
During this tour from Monday to Thursday, President Xi emphasized the importance of reform and innovation in advancing Chinese modernization.
Addressing provincial authorities and stakeholders, President Xi called on Hunan Province to remain steadfast. This was for its commitment to reform and innovation.
He stressed the need for a realistic and pragmatic approach. The aim is to shape the province’s future, In addition to this, the emphasis is on contributing to China’s overall development.
The inspection tour included visits to key institutions and enterprises in Hunan Province. On Monday, President Xi visited Hunan First Normal University in Changsha City. He engaged with students and faculty members.
China’s president highlighted the role of education in nurturing virtue and national service among students. He emphasized the importance of schools in shaping the country’s future leaders.
During the tour, President Xi also visited a Chinese-German battery materials joint venture. He underscored the significance of sci-tech innovation and high-quality development for enterprise growth.
He reiterated China’s commitment to opening its doors wider to foreign investment. These also included collaboration, and welcoming more foreign companies to invest and thrive in the country.
President Xi’s inspection tour also included a visit to a cultural street in Changde City. He celebrated the diversity of China’s traditional cultures.

He emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting local cultural heritage as part of China’s rich civilization.
On the final day of the tour, President Xi received reports from the provincial party and government authorities.
He acknowledged Hunan’s progress and called for deeper integration of innovation, industries, and human resources.
He urged the province to prioritize resolving key developmental challenges, accelerate technological breakthroughs, and contribute actively to national initiatives such as Belt and Road cooperation.
