Beijing, 24 March 2024 (TDI): Chinese President Xi Jinping has issued a message of condolence to Russian President Vladimir Putin following a devastating terrorist attack at a Moscow concert hall.
President Xi expressed shock and deep condolences for the heavy casualties. The cause was the terrorist attack. Xi extended his sympathies to the bereaved families and the injured.
In his message, President Xi vehemently denounced all forms of terrorism. He reiterated China’s strong condemnation of such heinous acts.
Additionally, he emphasized China’s firm support for the Russian government’s efforts. This was to safeguard national security and stability in the face of terrorist threats.
The terrorist attack, which targeted Crocus City Hall in the north-western suburb of Krasnogorsk, resulted in multiple casualties, including children. Furthermore, The attackers, clad in camouflage gear, stormed the concert hall and caused chaos and devastation.
Rock group Picnic was playing in the Crocus City Hall retail and performance complex. More than 6,000 Russians had come.
Minutes before Picnic was scheduled to perform, a fight broke out, but the band members remained uninjured.

Russian authorities swiftly arrested 11 individuals after the attack, with four directly involved in the assault. President Putin has not addressed the nation directly regarding the tragic incident yet.
Moreover, the international community has rallied in condemnation of the attack. In addition to this, the US offered intelligence support and expressed solidarity with Russia during this difficult time.
The White House has warned of potential threats targeting large gatherings in Moscow. They have urged caution among United States citizens in the vicinity of the attack.
The horrific events at the Moscow concert hall have reignited concerns about terrorism targeting civilian populations, reminiscent of past tragedies such as the 2002 theatre siege in Moscow. Security measures have been heightened across key locations in response to the attack.
