Islamabad, 1 March 2022 (TDI): The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will pay a two-day visit to Pakistan on the 3rd of March. This visit will take place at the invitation of  Prime Minister Pakistan, Imran Khan.

A high-level delegation, including Ministers, senior government officials, and business and media personnel will accompany the President.

This will be the first visit of the Uzbek President since he joined the office in 2016.

The visit will mark the celebration of the 30 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

During the visit, the leaders will review the full scope of the relations.

These include cooperation in the areas of trade and economic connectivity, politics, education, culture, security, and defense. There will be a comprehensive exchange of views on important international and regional issues. MoUs and bilateral Agreements will also be signed

President Mirziyoyev will have a meeting with Prime Minister, Imran Khan, after which delegation-level talks and Joint Media Stakeout will take place. A State Banquet will also be hosted in the honor of the Uzbek president.

President Mirziyoyev will also separately meet the President of Pakistan and both sides will talk about the direction of improving political and strategic relations, accelerating the progress of trade, transit, and economic linkages, improving interconnectivity; and boosting educational and cultural association.

The Trans-Afghan Railway Project, which connects Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan, will also be reflected upon. There will also be a productive interchange between the high-profile businessmen of both countries.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan are connected through a common religion, shared history, and cultural harmony. The countries have also united at regional and international forums like the UN, OIC, ECO, and SCO.

Before the visit of the Uzbek President, Pakistan and Uzbekistan are also scheduled to hold the seventh session of the Joint Ministerial Commission and the second Joint Business Forum in Islamabad on the 2nd of March.
