Jeddah, 19 August 2022 (TDI): The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with the Secretary General of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), Hissien Brahim Taha, and the President of IsDB (Islamic Development Bank) and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the IsDB Group, Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser.
The meetings took place on the sidelines of his official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Meeting with Secretary General of OIC
In the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan hailed the OIC Secretary General for leading OIC efforts to promote joint Islamic action and consolidate the spirit of Islamic solidarity.

He said that the OIC receives special attention from his country’s government. He further said that his government looks forward to strengthening cooperation with the OIC.
In reply, Secretary General Taha praised Uzbekistan’s role in OIC and its efforts in supporting the organization’s activities. He also lauded Uzbekistan’s role in promoting joint Islamic action through various initiatives.
OIC General Secretary also expressed his OIC’s eagerness to boost cooperation with Uzbekistan in all areas of common interest.
Both sides also discussed issues of common concern, including supporting peace and security in the region and the world.
Meeting with IsDB President
The President of Uzbekistan also met with the President of IsDB (Islamic Development Bank) and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the IsDB Group, Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser.

During his meeting with IsDB President, Uzbek President informed him about his government’s comprehensive reforms.
He said these reforms aimed to improve the business and investment environment, regional cooperation, and the agricultural sector. He further said that these reforms will promote innovation and entrepreneurship and will help achieve dignity for all people by 2026.
IsDB Chairman praised the valuable ties between Islamic Development Bank and Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan’s continuous support for the IsDB group.
IsDB Chairman also informed the President that IsDB supports rural development agricultural sector, water supply, sanitation facilities, health, education, transport, and energy sectors.
The Chairman of IsDB also expressed his desire to enhance cooperation between the Bank and Government of Uzbekistan.
Both sides exchanged views on the National Development Strategy of Uzbekistan (2026).
This meeting also included signing a Letter of Intent between the two sides, which will provide a framework for facilitating cooperation between the two sides. This signing will also promote rapid processing and approval of projects and operations of IsDB in Uzbekistan.
