President of Turkey meets Russian President

Sochi, 30 September 2021 (TDI): The President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan holds a meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi.

Both leaders discussed the Syrian situation and called for de-escalation of the current situation.

One must note here that Russian and Turkish forces are proactively manoeuvring in war-torn Syria against the rebels, and Turkey is hosting 3.7 million Syrian refugees. Therefore, any rekindling of the situation will wreak havoc for Ankara.

Moreover, Erdogan and Putin stressed consolidating bilateral ties by cooperation in the economy. Turkey is a member of NATO and has bought military equipment from Russia.

In unison, they conversed on the regional security issues.

After the meeting, Tayyab Erdogan tweeted and said that the visit was “useful and productive.”

It is pertinent to note here that the cooperation of Russia and Turkey in Idlib will pacify the status quo in war-ridden Syria.
