Islamabad, 23 December 2021 (TDI): Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi met visiting Chairman of the Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Bin Sheikh.
Dr. Abdullah is in Islamabad on the invitation from the Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser for improving bilateral parliamentary ties.
Both Pakistan and Saudi sides reiterated their desire to take the existing relations to new heights. In all areas of mutual interest.
Visiting Chairman of Shura Council of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Bin Sheikh, along with members of his delegation called on President Dr. Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

President Alvi’s Welcome
The Pakistan President warmly welcomed the visiting delegation. Reflecting on the historic ties between both nations he added that both the countries have experienced tremendous cooperation. Furthermore, these connections need to be further strengthened. This would be of mutual benefit for both sides.
President Alvi also extended thanks to the Kingdom. Highlighting Saudi’s continued and historical support for Pakistan. Moreover, for all the difficult times the financial assistance Saudis have lent to Pakistan.
Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) Extraordinary Summit
Also, the President extended felicitation to Saudi Arabia for taking a leaders role and helping convene the 17th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
He further praised the Saudis for raising their voice and mobilizing the international community to help Afghans. As well as for announcing financial help, during the recently held OIC session of Foreign Ministers for the people of Afghanistan.
Expressing his contentment over the OIC Summit the resident said that the OIC countries had given a strong message of hope, solidarity & unity to the people of Afghanistan during this challenging time.
Dr. Abdullah also congratulated the President on successfully holding the 17th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC on Afghanistan.
To combat Islamophobia President Alvi stressed the need for Islamic countries to put in a joint effort.
Kashmir Issue
Talking on the Kashmir issue Arif Alvi highlighted the atrocities being committed by India against innocent people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. Adding on he wished that the International community put pressure on India to stop committing human rights violations. More importantly, he vouched for granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination. This is by UN Security Council’s resolutions.
Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Bin Sheikh added that he considers Pakistan a second home. He urged on the need to take practical steps to further improve bilateral ties. Dr. Abdullah conveyed greetings to Pakistan’s President from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
