Islamabad, 18 March 2022 (TDI): President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi launched the Asaan Karobar Program in Islamabad on Friday. This program aims to improve Pakistan’s business environment, particularly for SME’s.

As part of its SME Development Policy, the Pakistani government developed the Asaan Karobar Program to make compliance easier for enterprises, particularly SMEs. The Prime Minister wanted the Board of Investment to carry out regulatory reforms and guillotine in accordance with international best practices in order to identify regulatory obstacles for elimination, simplification, and modernization of regulations at all three levels of government, i.e. federal, provincial, and local.

The President, speaking during the inauguration, stated that Pakistan has taken several initiatives to make doing business easier in order to encourage investment.

He encouraged the Board of Investment to make the Asaan Karobar Program interactive so that company complaints could be received.

According to him, red-tapism, ineptitude, and corruption are some of the key issues that obstruct the ease of doing business, resulting in a rise in the cost of doing business.

Arif Alvi advocated for increased efficiency and the use of the ombudsman to resolve issues more quickly.

Earlier, Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood said that the ease of doing business and lowering the cost of doing business are the keys to the country’s industrialization and economic improvement.

Najy Benhassine, Country Director of the World Bank, praised Pakistan’s efforts to introduce changes to boost business in the country in his remarks.

According to the adviser, Pakistan’s rating in the ease of doing business has improved as a result of the government’s smart initiatives.

He praised Pakistan’s achievements and stated that the Asaan Karobar Program will aid in the simplification of laws. He promised that the World Bank will continue to assist Pakistan in implementing reforms.
