Sochi, 20 August 2022 (TDI): The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, met with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on Friday in the Russian city, Sochi.

Russian President Putin welcomed Kazakhstan’s President himself upon arrival for the meeting. During the meeting, Russian President expressed his contentment over the meeting.

He said, “I am very pleased that our meeting will give an additional boost to the development of the strategic partnership of trust”.

Russian President also highlighted that 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Russia-Kazakhstan relations.

President of Russia particularly emphasized on the growing economic ties between the two countries. He said, “trade is increasing: last year it grew by 34.4(%), and this year, in the first five months almost 9, 8.8 (%).”

The Russian President further said that mutual investments are also on the rise. He noted that Russian investments in Kazakhstan have reached $17 billion while Kazakhstan’s investments in Russia are more than $4.5 billion.

Kazakhstan President’s Stance

In response, the President of Kazakhstan agreed with the Russian President that the progress Russia-Kazakhstan relations are good.

He said, “In general, there all grounds to be satisfied with how our cooperation is developing, in this I agree with you”.

Kazakhstani President also highlighted that both Russia and Kazakhstan are united by the world’s longest continuous land border.

He also assured President Putin that he intends to “additional dynamism” to Russia-Kazakhstan bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the President of the Central Asian Republic also mentioned that Russia ranks first in Kazakhstan’s trade turnover. About bilateral trade, he further said that “the volume of trade reached $24.5 billion”.

President Tokayev also highlighted Kazakhstan’s chairing of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) this year. In this regard, he invited President Putin to attend the organization’s summit in October in Tashkent.
