Nur-Sultan, 5 September 2022 (TDI): The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held a meeting at the emergency response headquarters for extinguishing the fire in the Kostanay region today on 5 September.

The meeting was held by the President after visiting the territory of the Auliekol district affected by the fire. The President told in the meeting that the situation in the region was under control.
Wildfires in the Kostanay Region
The fires, till now, have ravaged 43 hectares of forests. A local state of emergency has been reported in the region. According to the Emergency Situations Minister, almost all fire sources were contained.
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alihan Smaiylov pledged to fund the affected areas of the region.
President’s Emergency Meeting
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of providing full support to people forced to leave their homes due to the fires.
The President in the emergency meeting said that “Necessary assistance will be provided to all affected citizens. They were moved to a safe place.
According to my instructions, the Government is engaged in solving relevant problems. There should be no doubt that help will be provided”
He also listened to the reports of Minister of Emergencies, Yuri Ilyin, about the measures taken to extinguish the fire, evacuate citizens in settlements, and support the affected residents.
The President also drew attention to the need to determine the cause of the fire. According to him, The Ministry of Emergencies should be strengthened significantly as an institution capable of solving problems.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also held a meeting with personnel of fire departments of the Ministries of Emergencies, Internal Affairs, and Defense, as well as volunteers involved in fire suppression.
The President also expressed his gratitude for the bravery of all the citizens involved in terminating the emergency situation and said that awards and prizes will be given to those citizens.
