President Biden hosts Polish Leaders at White House

Washington, 13 March 2024 (TDI): US President Biden hosts President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the White House on 12 March 2024 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Poland joining as NATO allies.

On 12 March 1999, Poland became a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Poland was a former member of the Warsaw Pact and became the first former member to join NATO.

President Biden said, “Today, I was proud to welcome President Duda and Prime Minister Tusk of Poland to the White House to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Poland joining the NATO Alliance. Our Alliance is more united, determined, dynamic, and larger than ever – now 32 nations strong”.

Moreover, he said, “During my meeting today with President Duda and Prime Minister Tusk, we again made clear that the United States and Poland proudly stand with Ukraine in the face of Russia’s brutal war of conquest”.

President Duda stated, “On the 25th anniversary of Poland’s accession to NATO we speak with a common voice on security issues. Very good meetings with the US President Biden, and House and Senate leaders highlight the current position. The Polish American alliance is strong”.

“Let’s stand firm and always together,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.

According to reports, both counterparts reaffirmed their ironclad commitment to NATO, condemned Russian aggression on Ukraine, and urged support for Ukraine.

Moreover, they discussed US-Polish bilateral relations toward energy security cooperation and the significance of Democracy.

Additionally, he said, “USA is going to give a direct loan of $2 Billion to Poland to work on their security, for advancing the defense system and for increasing employment to strengthen security diplomacy between USA and Poland.

Lastly, President Biden shared, “The USA gave an offer to sell Poland 96 AH-64 Apache helicopter. This offer will help Poland to strengthen NATO’s Interoperability and boost security and defense industry”.
