Vatican City, 30 October 2021 (TDI): The South Korean President, Moon Jae-in is visiting Italy to attend the G-20 Summit. During his visit, he met with Pope Francis. The meeting was held at Apostolic Palace.
The Apostolic Palace is the official residence of the Pope. It is located in Vatican City and is also known as the Papal Palace. Moon Jae-in appreciated the warm welcome he received at the Palace.
The South Korean President requested the Pope to visit North Korea and accelerate the momentum for peace in the Korean Peninsula. In response to the request, Pope Francis assured that if he gets an invitation he will visit.
According to him, the visit will help Koreans and the cause of peace. North and South Koreans are brothers and speak the same language. Therefore, he will willingly go for the sake of peace. Pope Francis is the head of the Catholic Church. He is also sovereign of the Vatican City State ever since 2013.
President Moon will attend the G-20 Summit and then leave for the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26. The COP26 is being held in Glasgow, Scotland. Earlier, he also attended the 16th East Asia Summit (EAS).
