Warsaw, 31 May 2023 (TDI): The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its serious concerns about the recent increase in tensions in Northern Kosovo and strongly condemns the unprovoked attacks on NATO troops participating in the Kosovo Force (KFOR) operation.

These attacks have resulted in several dozen Allied soldiers being wounded, an act that we vehemently condemn. The international forces’ presence in Kosovo is aimed at ensuring the security and well-being of all inhabitants of the region.

It is deeply troubling to witness such unprovoked violence against those who have dedicated themselves to upholding peace and stability in the area.

Polish Foreign Ministry expressed its utmost solidarity with the KFOR soldiers who were wounded while on duty, and our thoughts are with them and their families during their recovery.

In light of the escalating situation, Poland calls upon all parties involved to exercise restraint and refrain from engaging in any unilateral actions that may further escalate tensions.

Poland urges all parties involved to de-escalate the situation and return to the negotiating table under the auspices of the European Union.

The European Union has played a vital role in facilitating discussions between Serbia and Kosovo, and both parties must recommit themselves to the dialogue process.

By engaging in constructive and meaningful dialogue, all stakeholders can work towards a mutually acceptable solution that benefits the people of Kosovo and the wider region.

Furthermore, Poland emphasized the importance of implementing the agreement on the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo.

This agreement, reached through painstaking negotiations, represents a significant step towards long-term stability in the region. Both countries must fulfill their commitments and demonstrate their dedication to the peaceful coexistence of their respective communities.

Foreign Ministry called upon all parties to seize this opportunity for peace, end the violence, and work towards a lasting resolution ensuring the security and prosperity of all inhabitants of Kosovo.

Poland reiterates the strong condemnation of these acts of violence and stresses the urgent need for all parties to exercise restraint, engage in dialogue, and implement the agreement on the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo.
