Tokyo, 16 June 2023 (TDI): Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio of Japan had a productive meeting with the Honorable Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor of the United States of America, on June 15.
Sullivan, who was visiting Japan to attend the Japan-U.S.-ROK/Japan-U.S.-Philippines meetings between National Security Advisors, paid a courtesy call to discuss various bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his sincere appreciation to NSA Sullivan for his instrumental role in the success of the recent G7 Hiroshima Summit and the productive Japan-U.S. Summit Meeting held last month.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of strong coordination between Japan and the United States in tackling the diverse challenges faced by the international community.

Both sides engaged in a constructive dialogue, exchanging their views on regional issues that included responses to North Korea, concerns related to China, and the situation in Ukraine. Prime Minister Kishida expressed his hope for the continued efforts of NSA Sullivan in further strengthening the long-standing and robust Japan-U.S. Alliance.
The discussions highlighted the commitment of both leaders to enhancing cooperation and addressing shared regional concerns. Their exchange underscored the close ties and strategic partnership between Japan and the United States.
