Gwadar: July 5, 2021-(TDI): Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting in Gwadar on the progress on the South Balochistan development package, today. Prime minister Imran Khan is on an official one-day visit to Gwadar.
One of the biggest reasons for Khan visiting Gwadar was to address and review the development in Balochistan. Earlier he asked the federal and local government to prepare a development program for the underdeveloped areas of Balochistan.
The Prime minister was briefed on the South Balochistan development program. Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Minister of Balochistan Mr. Jam Kamal along with FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the Ministers who are accompanying Imran on visit attended the meeting. General Asim Saleem Bajwa chairman of CPEC and other senior officers were also present in the briefing.
The briefing stated that the development program focuses on the construction of several infrastructures, transport, IT, and agricultural programs in the region. Under the development package, an 1100 km road network is also under construction, which will make the movement of people easier. The Construction of 7 large and 100 small dams to resolve the water issues in Balochistan was also briefed in the meeting.
The briefing also informed PM that an education scheme called Aspire has been launched to provide tele-schooling. Under the scheme of ‘digital Balochistan’s high-speed internet will also be provided to Balochistan.
Out of the total package of Rs. 654 billion, Rs. 99.38 billion will be spent this year to complete all these projects.
At the end of the briefing, PM Khan addressed the attendees and said that the development of Balochistan is the topmost priority of his government. Road network, industrial development, job opportunities, agricultural development, and provision of basic amenities will be provided to the people of Balochistan, said, Khan
