PM Albania supports USA and EU in Afghanistan

-

Tirana, 20 August 2021 (TDI): Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama in a statement while expressing his concerns and responsibilities to the People of Afghanistan, stated that it was their moral responsibility and duty to help the Afghan refugees.

The Albanian PM mentioned that Albania was part of the NATO mission at that time of the US-led invasion in Afghanistan. He added, “Albania cannot afford to have a short memory. We owe it to our children.” In a tweet about his BBC interview on the subject, he says that Albania is “the first door opened in Europe to the people of Afghanistan who believed in democracy and worked with us.” The PM also said that the country owes safety to Afghans due to its “past as refugees,” traditions of democracy, and humanitarian efforts.
