PIA Offices in Islamabad to Remain Closed for 3 Days

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced on Saturday that its offices in Islamabad will remain closed for three days on account of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in the capital.

“PIA offices would be closed from October 14 to October 16,” according to a circular issued by the national flag carrier.

The closure is part of security measures to ensure smooth operations during the international conference.

Pakistan is set to host a two-day SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad on October 15 and 16.

The SCO, which includes India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, is a significant economic and security bloc that has become one of the largest trans-regional international organizations.

The SCO Summit is anticipated to bring together leaders from member states to discuss critical regional issues and enhance cooperation in various fields, including security, trade, and cultural exchange.

The government has already deployed army troops in the federal capital to maintain order ahead of the SCO summit.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the preparations for the SCO summit.

The premier’s review aims to ensure that all arrangements meet the highest standards and reflect positively on Pakistan’s hospitality.
