Phone Call between Sri Lankan Foreign Minister and New Zealand High Commissioner

Colombo, 30 September 2021 (TDI): Michael Appleton, the High Commissioner of New Zealand to Sri Lanka made a courtesy call to the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, Gamini Lakshman Peiris.

Peiris’s selection as Foreign Minister was greeted with congratulations by High Commissioner Appleton. He pledged to work closely with him in the future to take the bilateral relationship to new heights. He stated that New Zealand and Sri Lanka have collaborated in a number of areas focusing on the dairy and agricultural sectors. Moreover, he thinks it’s the right time for both countries to discover new areas of cooperation in a friendly manner.

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister stated his optimism that the inauguration of the resident New Zealand High Commission in Colombo will greatly assist the ongoing progress of bilateral interactions between the two countries. He recalled the mutually beneficial connection between the two countries.
