Seoul, 19 October 2021 (TDI): Theresa Dizon-De Vega, the Philippines’ Ambassador to South Korea presented her credentials. South Korean President Moon Jae-in accepted her credentials.
In the conversation, Ambassador De Vega reminisced about the sturdy relations between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. The two allies share a relation anchored in shared sacrifices and commitment to restore peace. The historic ties are in political, defense, economic, cultural, and people-to-people spheres.
Ambassador De Vega conveyed PH commitment to more engaged pandemic cooperation, including on vaccines, and mobility, especially the movement of essential workers, resumption of two-way travel, among others.

The Philippines’ Ambassador affirmed her country’s support in the UN, ASEAN, other multilateral fora, and President Moon Jae-in’s flagship foreign policy initiative, the New Southern Policy Plus. She reiterated lasting commitment to pandemic cooperation, including vaccines, mobility, business people, students, etc. Moreover, the Philippines is keen to resume two-way travel for the economic rejuvenation of both countries.
The South Korean President on his part enunciated that his government will adopt efforts to acquire denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula. He underscored that establishment of peace through dialogue and diplomacy is paramount for the region. Furthermore, his government believes in cultivating strong bilateral ties with the Philippines.
