Parliamentary delegation participated in International conference on 75th Anniversary of Pakistan

Moscow, 27 September 2022 (TDI): A high-level Parliamentary Delegation of Pakistan led by Senator Walid Iqbal, Chairman Senate Committee on Human Rights, participated in the International Conference on the Occasion of the 75th Anniversary of Pakistan Independence at the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow.

The Institute of Oriental Studies organized the Conference in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan.

The delegation is comprised of Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokar and Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar and Senator Walid Iqbal.

In his keynote address, Senator Walid Iqbal stressed the need for cooperation between Pakistan and Russia. He acknowledged Russian support for Pakistan’s membership of SCO and conveyed gratitude for the Russian Federation’s assistance in the wake of unprecedented floods in Pakistan.

He stressed the need to realize cooperation of agreements, including the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline project, to boost the relations between the two countries further.

He mentioned Dr. Allama Iqbal’s emphasis on the Asian renaissance and how it would positively impact the world. He added that an Asian renaissance was inconceivable without Russia.

While deliberating upon the bilateral relations between the two countries, Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan noted with satisfaction that the trajectory of progress is positive and seamless irrespective of change in government.

He also briefed on various aspects of Pakistan’s foreign and defense policy and emphasized the importance of settling of Kashmir issue for peace and security in the region.

During the event, a book was written by Walid Iqbal, “Encyclopedia of Iqbal,” was inaugurated and famous Russian Urdu Scholar Dr. Ladmila from the Oriental Studies Institute said that this book could be translated into the Russian language for those who love Iqbal in the Russian speaking world.
