Karachi, 27 September 2022 (TDI): The Karachi leg of the T20 International series between Pakistan and England was concluded on September 25. Four matches were played in Karachi and both teams won 2 matches each.

The series is leveled at 2-2. The remaining three matches of the series will be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore from 28 September.

Highlights of Karachi leg

Four matches were played at the National Stadium, Karachi on 20, 22, 23, and 25 September respectively. Pakistan won the second and fourth T20I and England won the other two.

1st T20I

The first T20I was played on 20 September. Having been inserted at the toss, Pakistan’s innings were once again built around a solid opening partnership between Muhammad Rizwan and Babar Azam.

Pakistan put 158 runs on the board in 20 overs and the target was achieved by England in the last over with 6 wickets in hand. Luke Wood was the Player of the Match in that match for his brilliant bowling of 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs.

2nd T20I

England batted first after winning the toss in the 2nd T20I and scored 199 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The target was easily chased by Pakistan.

A world record unbeaten 203-run partnership between the openers saw chase down 200 against England with three balls to spare and without the loss of a single wicket.

Babar Azam scored his second T20I ton, taking 62 balls to get there, while Rizwan’s unbeaten 51-ball 88 was a more than adequate supporting act.

3rd T20I

Pakistan won the toss and put England to bat first. England scored a massive total of 221 runs in 20 overs. Harry Brook batted brilliantly and scored 81 off 35 balls.

In response, the Pakistan team stumbled from the start and only Shan Masood was able to score a half-century. Pakistan lost the match by 63 runs.

4th T20I

England won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pakistan scored 166 runs in their 20 overs with firepower at the end of the innings. Muhammad Rizwan scored 88 runs.

In response, England could only manage to score 163 runs and Pakistan won the match by 3 runs. Haris Rauf was declared Player of the Match.

Muhammad Rizwan is the top run scorer in the series with 252 runs at an average of 84. He has scored 3 half-centuries in the series so far.

Haris Rauf is the leading wicket-taker with 6 wickets at an average of 20.66 and an economy of 7.75 runs per over. His best figures were 3/32 in the 4th T20I.
