Islamabad (TDI): Dr. Zuhair Zaid, Ambassador of Palestine to Pakistan, expressed profound gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their steadfast support of the Palestinian cause.

His remarks were made during an event held in connection with United Nations Day, which is observed on October 24. The event took place at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science, and Technology (FUUAST), where Ambassador Zaid was invited as a guest of honor.

The event was also attended by several distinguished figures, including former Pakistani ambassadors like Ibrar Hussain.

Ambassador Zaid lauded Pakistan’s consistent stance against injustice, illegal occupation, and the human rights violations faced by the Palestinian people. He emphasized that Pakistan has always stood firmly in support of Palestine on all fronts, championing the rights of the Palestinian people in international forums.

Zaid also drew attention to the critical role of the United Nations (UN), stating that while the UN was created to resolve international disputes through dialogue and cooperation, it has too often remained silent in the face of conflicts like those in Palestine and Kashmir.

He highlighted the tragic loss of innocent lives in these regions, including those of women and children, due to the failure of the international community to implement long-standing UN resolutions.

The Palestinian ambassador called on the United Nations to act on its pending resolutions related to the Palestine and Kashmir issues, stressing that a peaceful resolution requires both political will and immediate action from the global community.
