Palestine warns against political agendas threatening Palestinian Cause amid Gaza Crisis

Ramallah, 21 October 2023 (TDI): The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine issued a stern warning against any political initiatives aimed at undermining the Palestinian cause while hiding behind the tragic destruction unfolding in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), as the guardian of our people’s rights and our guiding light, remains the most direct path to freedom and independence.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the ongoing heinous acts of genocide perpetrated by Israeli warplanes in the Gaza Strip, utilizing internationally prohibited weapons.

These relentless assaults have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis afflicting all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip, with Palestinian civilians, including children, paying the highest toll.

The rising number of casualties and the increasing devastation, coupled with the ethnic cleansing and displacement of citizens, paint a grim picture of the situation.

Entire neighborhoods in the northern Gaza Strip resemble earthquake-ravaged landscapes, inflicting new suffering upon Palestinian citizens, leaving both numbers and media outlets unable to fully grasp the extent of the devastation.

Furthermore, the Ministry vehemently denounced the violations and crimes committed by occupation forces and armed settler militias in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

These actions are clear attempts to marginalize and suppress the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem and all areas classified as (C).

Such acts amount to collective punishment and torture of Palestinian citizens as part of an ongoing effort to perpetuate the occupation, annexation, expansion, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid. These actions are blatant attempts to subdue the Palestinian people’s spirit.

The Ministry is tirelessly monitoring the situation and engaging with international bodies on the grave humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the occupation’s aggression in the West Bank.

It has persistently and urgently reiterated the warning against any political projects that seek to liquidate the Palestinian cause and the rights of our people under the guise of self-defense, which Israel exploits.

In this vein, the Foreign Ministry stressed the continuation of Palestinian diplomacy and its activities, not only to expose the ramifications of this devastating Israeli aggression – a gross violation of international law – but also to mobilize international support to condemn the aggression and cease the hostilities immediately.

It is vital to underline that addressing the roots of the conflict and resolving it by ending the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine’s land is the fundamental key to achieving security and stability in the entire region.

In this context, the Ministry reaffirmed through its daily interactions with global decision-makers that the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, entrusted with safeguarding their rights and directing the course toward freedom and independence.

The Ministry also called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the immediate provision of international protection for the Palestinian people, and a sincere international effort to rekindle the peace process and negotiations, ultimately culminating in the establishment of a Palestinian state on the ground, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
