Ankara, 3 June 2023 (TDI): The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Shareef, reached Türkiye for an official visit last night. This visit is expected to last two days. He will be participating in the inauguration ceremony of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Prime Minister was received by high officials from the Turkish Foreign Ministry and Pakistan’s Mission in Türkiye at Esenboga Airport, Ankara.

This visit was commenced by Shareef on the invitation of the reelected President of Türkiye, who won the presidential election on May 28, 2023. Erdogan has been in power for over two decades, and his re-election underscores the trust of the Turkish people in him.

Before leaving for Türkiye Shareef made a tweet in which he said,” I will convey our warmest greetings to the President on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan on his re-election. The fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye are set to deepen further in line with our shared resolve and common destiny.”

He further added that the upcoming 7th Meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Islamabad will help us further enhance our strategic partnership with our brother country. There is a lot of potential in both countries that is yet to be explored.

During his visit, meetings with businesses and the Turkish investor community are also planned. These meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss investment opportunities and explore ways to increase bilateral trade.

Leaders from around the world will be attending this ceremony, which underscores the global recognition of Türkiye’s democratic process and its role as a key player in the region.

In particular, the participation of Pakistan’s delegation highlights the deep-rooted and longstanding relationship between the two nations.

Both countries identify each other as strong allies with shared religious and cultural values, which has also helped to build a strong bond between the people of both nations. This meeting projects a positive trajectory and is expected to further strengthen Pak-Türkiye ties.
