Pakistan’s Prime Minister meets Qatar’s Foreign Minister

Islamabad, 9 September 2021 (TDI): The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, met Prime Minister Imran Khan. The meeting marked the discussion of evolving dynamics in Afghanistan and the diversified bilateral relationship between Qatar and Pakistan.

During the meeting, Khan stated that Pakistan has faced the severe repercussions of the prolonged conflict in Afghanistan. He underscored that peaceful, secure, and stable Afghanistan is necessary not only for Pakistan but for the stability of the whole region. He also highlighted the importance of preventing a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and revitalizing its economy. He urged the international community to create incentives for the economic development in Afghanistan.

Imran Khan hailed Qatar’s assiduous efforts for the Afghan peace process. Furthermore, he reaffirmed his resolve to strengthen bilateral ties with Qatar and enhance cooperation in diversified areas including energy, trade, and investment. He also emphasized the need of establishing strong people-to-people linkages.
