Doha, 24 August 2022 (TDI): Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the state of Qatar, on Wednesday.

On the arrival of the Prime Minister at Deewan-e-Ameeri, he was welcomed and presented with a guard of honor.

During the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed matters of mutual interest. They also agreed to enhance the cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar in various sectors.

The Emir of Qatar reassured the Prime Minister of Qatar’s commitment to forging a stronger economic partnership with Pakistan.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA)’s readiness to invest US$ 3 billion in various commercial and investment sectors in Pakistan.

Moreover, the Emir also appreciated the important contribution of Pakistanis to the development of Qatar and shared Qatar’s resolve to provide enhanced employment opportunities for Pakistanis, in line with the Qatar Vision 2030.

Moreover, General Qamar Javaid Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, Miftah Ismail, Pakistan’s Minister for Finance and Revenue, and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs of Pakistan were also presented during the meeting.

In addition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met with the parents of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.

Prime Minister recalled the Father of Emir’s visits to Pakistan in 1997 and 2017 and appreciated his role in strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

Further, the Prime Minister also thanked Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani for hosting 2 lac Pakistani diaspora in Qatar.

Previous Meetings

Earlier, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif met a delegation from Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) on Tuesday, right after his arrival in Doha. The two sides discussed enhancing trade and investment relations between Pakistan and Qatar.

Moreover, the Prime Minister also attended the “Pakistan-Qatar Trade and Investment Roundtable 2022”. During the Roundtable, he held interactions with prominent Pakistani and Qatari business leaders.

The Prime Minister invited the Qatari investors to make investments in various sectors of Pakistan and assured full support of his government in this regard.

Prime Minister arrived in Doha, Qatar on a two-day official visit, at the Invitation of the Emir of State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hammad Al-Thani.

The agenda of his visit is to hold in-depth political consultations with the Qatari leadership. Moreover, he will also be visiting FIFA World Cup Stadium 974 in Doha.
