Stance About Climate Change

Delivering his speech during the UN ECOSOC, he provided an informal briefing on the outcomes of the UN Climate Change Conference COP26.

Munir Akram said that in the Glasgow conference, leaders have tried to devise mechanisms to mitigate the results of climate evangelism without addressing the past errors.

He further highlighted that to recover the developed cracks and to formulate policies that can meet the eyes, Giant states should play a vital role without compromising the developmental process of developing countries.

Digital Transition for Socio-Economic Growth

During his speech, he urged to bridge the gaps between developed and developing countries in the field of digital technology. He mentioned that Pakistan attaches its utmost importance to digital technology for economic and social growth and development, efficient governance, and public service delivery.

Mentioning the significance of Digitalization, he further expressed that for global transformation, a shift towards it is essential in the present era.

He insisted on the International community pooling its cooperation for capacity building and sharing of requisite technologies to enhance information and cyber security. Also, he urged for conscious and safe use of communication and information technologies to prevent the outbreak of further conflicts.

Munir Akram expressed his views about the shocks of the global pandemic and highlighted the fact that developing states need a growth rate of 8-9% for the next several years to ensure their survival on the planet and to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He further said that for the achievement of this growth rate, developing states need to redesign their priorities along with policies.
