Islamabad, 15 January 2022 (TDI): On 14 January 2022, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi has met with the Commander in Chief of Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Islamabad.
While talking to the Commander in Chief, the Foreign Minister said that Pakistan attaches its utmost importance to pursue “Engage Africa Policy” to cement its relations with all African countries.
He mentioned that Pakistan views Congo as a key country in the African continent. It aims to pursue a strong bilateral relation with Congo.
The Foreign Minister also mentioned that Pakistan aims at nurturing its relations through friendly policies with regional partners and values its relationship with the Republic of Congo.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi highlighted the efforts of Congo in maintaining peace in the region. He also said that Pakistan acknowledges the role of Congo for regional peace and harmony.
Pakistan’s Role in UN Peace Mission
The Commander in Chief of Armed Forces of Congo highly appreciated the defence system of Pakistan. The military working under the auspices of the UN Peace Mission by the military personals of Pakistan.
The visiting dignitary applauded the cooperative approach of the military institutions of Pakistan. He also acknowledged the role they played in the UN peacekeeping operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
They also brought into light matters of mutual concern and regional developments. Moreover, they discussed the cooperation on the military level to incorporate training and security enlargement for global peace.
Both envoys exchanged their views about the growing exhaustion on political grounds and also the changing regional and global order. They discussed developing a wide spectrum of cooperation in the areas of defence and security to shave off the grown raw edges on the regional sheet.
The Foreign Minister assured the Commander in Chief that the Pakistan army will always render its services for establishing peace.
