Islamabad, 15 January 2022 (TDI): After meeting the OIC Secretary-General, the COMSTECH Coordinator reunited with Islamic Development Bank Officials. This is to discuss topics of mutual interest in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Key Initiatives remarked by the COMSTECH Coordinator
During the meeting, COMSTECH Iqbal Choudhary pointed out the Africa Program regarding its recent Eye Camp and Neurocritical Workshops. These that took place in Niger and Gambia sought to select a specialized team of medical professionals to support African people.
In this regard, COMSTECH and Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) carried out the African Eye Camps programs to prevent blindness. For that reason, Iqbal Choudhary pointed out the relevance of COMSTECH and the IsDB partnerships. Mainly to explore new cooperation avenues.
IsDB-COMSTECH partnerships
Along these lines, the Iqbal Choudhary informed IsDB officials about the current status of the COMSTECH projects all around the world. Especially those between both entities. That is why he briefed the officials about the implementation status of the OIC STI Agenda 2026.
The latter aims to address contemporary challenges and develop initiatives including poverty alleviation, health, environmental preservation, among others. Therefore, the COMSTECH Coordinator pondered upon perspective COMSTECH-IsDB joint programs. This is to benefit OIC members and assure their prosperity.
In that way, IsDB officials and COMSTECH Coordinator General agreed on enhancing cooperation between them in two specific branches. First, social development; and second, the economic prosperity of the Ummah.
Islamic Development Bank (IsDB)
On the other hand, it is essential to define the Islamic Development Bank‘s work and mission. Therefore, the IsDB is a multilateral bank in charge of promoting social and economic development in Muslim communities.
In this matter, the IsDB work in 57 countries across 5 continents. Not to mention, their operating assets reach more than USD 16 million. Hence, the Islamic Development Bank put all of its efforts to support countries to grow up their economies and societies.
Along these lines, during yesterday meeting, the IsDB officials included are the following: Acting Director-General, Global Practica and Partnerships, Amer Bukvic. Besides, STI Strategy Division Manager Mohamed Shaker Hebara attended the gathering.
In addition, Acting Director Regional Cooperation and Integration Department, Riad Ragheb joined the meeting. Not to mention Sameh Hussein, Ahmad Shawesh and Bandr Al Harbi who also joined the reunion with the COMSTECH Chief. These three who represent the Technical Cooperation Department, Initiatives Officer and STI Department, respectively.
