Pakistan-Azerbaijan Relations

After the Soviet Union fell apart, Azerbaijan declared independence. Following Turkey, Pakistan became the second country to recognize Azerbaijan as an independent state on December 12, 1991.

Pakistan has supported Azerbaijan on numerous matters, notably the Nagorno-Karabakh war, since their relations began on June 9, 1992. In addition to refusing to recognize Armenia as a state, the Islamabad government, which condemns the Khojaly atrocity, criticizes Yerevan.

Pakistan continues to be firm in its support for Azerbaijan in its dispute with Armenia over Nagorno Karabakh. Azerbaijan has consistently and strongly supported Pakistan’s efforts to resolve the Kashmir dispute as soon as possible, in compliance with relevant UN resolutions.

Since the beginning of the relationships, there has been a regular exchange of high-level visits between the two countries. Both states place great importance on their ties and give them better grades.

There are a number of elements that can help to improve the relationship. The joint goal of world peace and prosperity for humanity is first and foremost. The religious values of the two countries have also stitched the two nations together.

This has also improved their mutual support. Even the fact that we share the same cultural and historical heritage has brought us closer.
