Islamabad, 18 May 2022 (TDI): Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday commended Sinovac, a Chinese biopharmaceutical company, for expressing interest in forming a joint venture in Pakistan to diagnose, prevent, and treat diseases.

In a meeting with a Sinovac delegation, the Prime Minister stated that the government will provide all necessary assistance in this area.

Qiang Gao, General Manager Sinovac, Kevin Zhang, Director International Business, Abdul Qadir Patel, Executive Director National Institute of Health Major General Professor Amir Ikram, and other top officials attended the meeting.

During the COVID-19 immunization campaign, the Prime Minister was briefed on the vaccine donated by Sinovac to Pakistan.

The prime minister has asked the Federal Minister of Health to organize a task force in this regard as soon as possible so that Sinivac can begin work on the project.

China was already cooperating with Pakistan on vaccine development, and the two countries will work together to eliminate the virus. Pakistan is not only the first country in the world to receive COVID-19 vaccine aid from the Chinese government, but it is also the country that has received the most COVID-19 vaccines from China to date, demonstrating the two countries’ unbreakable friendship.

The first supply of 500,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines provided by the Chinese government arrived in Islamabad on February 1, 2020, by a special plane.

On February 8, China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) handed a supply of Covid-19 vaccines to Pakistan’s military forces, as requested by the latter.

One of the government’s major aims, according to PM Sharif, is to promote foreign direct investment in the country.

The Prime Minister emphasized the ideal friendship between China and Pakistan, saying that the government welcomes SINOVAC’s investment offer and will provide all possible support in this respect.
