Pakistan’s Foreign Minister meets Dutch Counterpart

Islamabad, 2 September 2021 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi welcomed his Dutch counterpart, Sigrid Kaag in Pakistan. The promotion of friendly bilateral relations between Pakistan and the Netherlands were discussed in the meeting.

Both parties exchanged their views on the cooperation between the two countries within the European Union (EU). Shah Mahmood also appreciated the support of the Dutch government for the Generalized Preferential System (GSP) Plus status for Pakistan. He highlighted that Netherlands is the second largest country in the EU for Pakistani exports thus trade relations between two countries have significant importance.

Furthermore, both sides emphasized upon the coordination between two countries for promoting peace in the region. They also underscored the role of international community in the political and economic development of Afghanistan and its people. The efforts made by Pakistan to evacuate staff of international organizations and governments from Afghanistan, were also acknowledged.
