Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Spoke with US Deputy Secretary of State

Washington, 24 September 2021 (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Asad Majeed Khan, spoke with the US Deputy Secretary of State, Wendy R. Sherman on Friday. The two discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the United States of America.

During the conversation, Wendy R. Sherman expressed gratitude towards the Pakistani government for assisting the United States’ efforts in safely evacuating American citizens and other foreign nationals from Afghanistan. She also expressed contentment over Pakistan warmly hosting the Afghan refugees. The officials also discussed holding the Taliban to their commitments in Kabul.

The Taliban took over Afghanistan in August with the top officials, including President Ghani fleeing the country. The chaotic power grab has led to one of the worst humanitarian crises in Kabul, particularly in the form of countless civilians attempting to flee the country.
