Islamabad (TDI): Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced on Saturday that Pakistani troops and JF-17 Thunder fighter jets will take part in Azerbaijan’s Victory Day parade, set to be held later today.

Victory Day, observed annually on November 8, marks Azerbaijan’s triumph in the 44-day Karabakh War of 2020 against Armenia.

In a post on social media platform X, Minister Tarar expressed pride in the growing bond between the two nations, saying, “Long live Pakistan-Azerbaijan friendship. Pakistani troops and JF-17 Thunder fighter jets will be appearing in Azerbaijan’s Victory Parade today, commemorating the liberation of Karabagh.”

His remarks came in response to a post by Pakistan’s embassy in Baku, which had shared images of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Ilham Aliyev attending a joint dinner ahead of the parade. The prime minister arrived in Baku on Friday to take part in the celebrations.

During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Aliyev reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, energy, connectivity, and defense. Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir also attended the meeting.

In a late-night post on X, Shehbaz Sharif said he was looking forward to witnessing the “grand parade” and noted that both countries share “deep-rooted and fraternal ties,” vowing to expand cooperation further.
