Pakistani Prime Minister meets Bosnian Foreign Minister

Islamabad, 21 March 2022 (TDI): Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Bisera Turkovic, met Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan to attend the OIC Summit. To clarify, the Bosnian Foreign Minister is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan from March 22 to 23, 2022.

It is pertinent to note that Foreign Minister Turkovic will also attend the 48th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers to be held in Islamabad. Similarly, OIC has set the theme for this year relating to “Unity, Justice, and Development“.

Along the sidelines of the OIC Summit, both leaders deliberated upon the relationship of Pakistan with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Moreover, the sides also discussed regional and international affairs of common interest.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, welcomed Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Bisera Turkovic. Besides, he emphasized that Pakistan has warm and friendly relations with Bosnia & Herzegovina.

However, he desired to boost these ties to an abroad-based relationship by highlighting socio-economic and education indicators. In addition to that, he also pointed out the significance of people-to-people contact.

In response, Foreign Minister of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Dr. Turkovic, emphasized the political developments occurring in her country. Then, she thanked the government of Pakistan and its people for their support and encouragement to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to that, Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia & Herzegovina. Indeed, this step is vital to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

During the meeting, both leaders also discussed matters related to security and peace such as Afghanistan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Islamophobia. Similarly, this year OIC will focus on issues related to Afghanistan and Jammu Kashmir as well.

In the same vein, OIC applauded the efforts of Pakistan against the spread of Islamophobia around the globe. Currently, the UN has adopted a resolution to condemn the spread of Islamophobia.
