Islamabad, 7 October 2023 (TDI): Jalil Abbas Jilani, Foreign Minister of Pakistan is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan to participate in the 27th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), on October 7.
This meeting will take place from 9-10 October 2023 in Shusha, Azerbaijan. It’s worth mentioning that the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan relayed this information today through their official media platform.
During the visit, the interim Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Jalil Abbas Jilani will be holding the meeting with the Ministers that are taking part in the meeting.
Along with this, he will also be addressing the Council of Ministers (COM) and holding bilateral meetings with the participating Ministers of the member states as well as the dignitaries on the sidelines of the event.
As per the information provided by the office of the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Ministers, serves as the policy-making body of ECO, sanctions decisions, and the yearly work agenda of the organization.
At the 27th COM, member states will discuss ways to promote sustainable economic development in the ECO region.
Member states will achieve this through strengthening trade and economic collaboration, along with providing mutual support in social, cultural, technical, and scientific areas.
Additionally, note that this year’s event revolves around the theme of “Green Transition and Interconnectivity.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering dedication to the ECO’s goals and objectives.
They highlighted its pivotal role in key ECO initiatives and agreements such as the ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA) and the ECO Transit Transport Framework Agreement (ECOTTFA), as a founding member.
